It’s that time again! Come join us on April 7th from 8 AM to 2 PM at Camp Fletcher for our semi-annual Junk In Your Trunk event! We’re expecting a great turnout with all sorts of odds and ends for sale. Tell everyone you know about this huge event! Admission is FREE so you don’t want to miss out!
ALSO, we’ll be having open house from 10 AM to 12 PM! This is a great chance for parents and campers to meet the staff, tour the grounds, and register for camp!
On Friday, more than 20 members of Alabama Power’s hydro engineering team and their families spent the day at Camp Fletcher expanding and improving the network of trails through our nearly 300 acres of woodlands.
Thanks to their fantastic work, more young people and families will have access to more of Camp Fletcher than ever before.
Having engineers around sure comes in handy for projects like this. These Alabama Power engineers generally work on hydroelectric dams but the team had no problem building a bridge on the fly using logs from trees taken down to clear our trails.
Thanks also to Cawaco and Turkey Creek Nature Preserve for arranging the loan of a trailer jam-packed with with specialized trail-building tools.
Below you’ll find before and after pictures along with some shots of good people getting sweaty for a great cause. Click on any picture for a close-up slideshow view.
Thank you to John, Herbie, Martin, Alan and everyone else at Alabama Power from all of us at Camp Fletcher, and thanks to Charles at Turkey Creek Nature Preserve. Y’all are true heroes!
It’s not too late to reserve your spot for Junk in Your Trunk. Camp Fletcher’s popular bi-annual yard sale happens this Saturday (October 7th) between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m.
At Junk in Your Trunk, sellers park their cars on the perimeter of our huge playing field (and elsewhere if all of the spots on the field sell out). They spread their treasures on tarps or card tables or literally just sell their wares out of their trunks. You never know what you’ll find at JIYT, but we can pretty much guarantee that something will be coming home with you.
It costs just $10 to reserve your selling spot for the day and it’s totally, completely, absolutely free to shop ’til you drop. Our general store will be open and we’ll have sodas, snacks and sandwiches for sale. Rumor has it that our pulled pork sandwiches will be making a return. We’ll also have tables for rent ($5 each) while they last.
To reserve your space, here’s the link to the Junk in Your Trunk registration form with all the details, fine print and legal yada, yada. JIYT Registration Form
